Focal Point:  Display of children's welcome banners, garland, scarf, bowl, jug of water, towel, globe, bible, Mission Together candle and box.
   
Song: World Children, Here I Am Rejoice 2 number 23.
   
Leader:  Let's welcome each other today. Turn to the person beside you.

Give a smile and say, "Good morning."

When we welcome each other we are saying that we want to be friends.

   
Leader: Many children in Assam, India are very poor. Indicate India on the globe.

They welcome visitors into their homes and share what little they have.

They welcome an important visitor in a special way.

Children may mime - one child to be the visitor and four children to welcome.

   
Child 1: "Welcome. Jai Yesu. (Praise Jesus)" Child places garland round neck of visitor.
   
Child 2:  "Welcome. Jai Yesu. (Praise Jesus.)" Child places scarf round week of visitor
   
Child 3 and
Child 4:
"Welcome. Jai Yes,. (Praise Jesus.)" One child holds bowl. Visitor holds hands over bowl.

Second child pours water over hands of visitor and dries hands on towel.

   
Liturgy of the word

Leader: We welcome Jesus as our friend when we welcome the Gospel.

A child opens bible at Luke 19:1-10 - the story of Zaccheus - and places on lectern.

   
Song: An Alleluia song, Here I Am, Rejoice 1 number 16.
   
Leader: Let s listen to the story of Zaccheus who was happy to welcome Jesus into his home.

The story of Zaccheus may be simply mimed.

   
Leader: Zaccheus became the friend of Jesus He shared half of all he owned with the poor.
   
Response to the Word
   
Leader: Today we welcome Jesus into on, hearts.

Light Mission Together candle.

Let us be very still and pray together the welcome prayer of the children of Assam,

"Praise, Jesus." We'll say it three times with a pause in between each time.

   
All: Praise Jesus. Pause. Praise Jesus. Pause. Praise Jesus.
   
Leader: Today we welcome Jesus into our hearts.

Hold up Mission Together box.

Let us be generous like the children of Assam. let us learn how to share.

   
All: Praise Jesus. Pause. Praise Jesus. Pause. Praise Jesus.

Leader: Children in Mission Together have a motto which reminds us to welcome children of the world as our friends.
 

 

Child: Our motto is CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN
Children hold up banner with motto.
   
Leader: Let us go out and live our motto.
